Akron, Ohio – The Akron Zips women's golf team traveled to Farmers Branch, Texas for the 2018 Bradley Spring Break Invitational, hosted by Bradley on Monday and Tuesday, March 12-13.

The 54-hole event is scheduled to be played at the par-73, 6,286-yard Brookhaven Country Club, featuring 36 holes on March 12 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The final 18 holes Tuesday, March 13 with 9 a.m. shotgun start. Fans can follow the action live via BirdieFire Live Scoring.

"We are expecting some windy conditions here and look forward to the challenge," Zips head coach Jenny King said. "This will be another great way for us to prepare for the MAC Championship in April. Any opportunity to compete is a chance for us to learn and improve."

The 16-team field includes host Bradley, Akron, Belmont, Cincinnati, Detroit, Drake, Houston Baptist, Illinois State, Missouri State, Northern Illinois, South Dakota
Texas A&M Corpus Christi, UMKC, UNC-Asheville, UTRGV, and Wichita State. In addition, UT-Dallas will have some individuals competing in the event.

Akron's starting five includes junior Danielle Nicholson (Geneva, Ohio), freshman Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio), senior Pader Her (Holt, Mich.), freshman Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio), and sophomore Allyson Wentworth (Stewartsville, N.J.).

In Akron's spring-opening stroke play event, Nicholson and Pikunas finished first and second to lead the Zips to a runner-up finish at the Rio Verde Invitational. Nicholson claimed medalist honors with a 2-under par 214 total (76-68-70), while Pikunas placed runner-up with a 71-75-74 - 220 (+4) performance. Nicholson earned Mid-American Conference Player of the Week accolades for her efforts.

Her and Wentworth finished third and fourth in scoring for the Zips, carding scores of 82-73-78 – 233 (+17) and 77-77-82 – 236 (+20), respectively. Her was tied for 36th overall, while Wentworth tied for 46th place. Pearce competed as an individual and finished tied for 43rd overall with scores of 79-75-81 – 235 (+19).
