AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips women's golf team is back on the course after a 13 day layoff, playing in the 2021 Colonel Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky on Monday-Tuesday, March 29-30 at the University Club at Arlington in Richmond, Ky., a par-72 course that stretches 5,910 yards.
Monday's 36-hole continuous play round is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start but start time has been delayed to 9:30 a.m. due to frost on the course. Tuesday's final 18-hole round is slated for a 9 a.m. tee-off.
The field includes 14 teams including Eastern Kentucky (host), Akron, Ball State, Belmont, Butler, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Dayton, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, Tennessee Tech, Western Michigan and Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Akron's starting five consists of junior Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio), sophomore Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio), sophomore Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India), freshman Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio), freshman Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio). In addition, freshman Riley Dean (Lewis Center, Ohio) will be competing as an individual.
