Richmond, Ky. – The Akron Zips women's golf placed third overall out of 14 teams as four Zips placed in the Top 25 at the 2021 Colonel Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky at the University Club at Arlington on Tuesday.

After 36 holes played, Akron entered the final round third overall with a (+16) 299-293 – 592 team total and maintained the position by carding a 302 (+14) team total for an 894 (+30) tournament score.

Freshmen Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio) led Akron's scoring efforts with a 12th overall finish in the field of 81 golfers with a 3-over par 75-stroke final round total. Hahn eagled the par-5, 458-yard hole No. 13 while recording three birdies and six par scores. She finished the 54-hole event with a 6-over par 222 stroke performance.

Sophomore Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio) followed with a 75 (+3) final round en route to a 14th overall finish, elevating two spots on the player leaderboard. Pikunas added a 73 (+1) to the pair of 3-over par scores for a 223 (+7) tournament total.

Sophomore Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India) placed 17th overall with scores of 71 (-1), 76 (+4) and 77 (+5) for a 224 (+8) tournament tally, while freshman Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio) climbed eight spots on the player board with a final round 75 (+3) total. David finished 23rd overall with rounds of 77 (+5), 74 (+2) and 75 (+3) for a 10-over par 226 tournament total.

Junior Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio) and freshman Riley Dean (Lewis Center, Ohio) rounded out the Zips' scoring with 240 (+24) and 252 (+36) performances.

Eastern Kentucky claimed the tournament title with an 875 (+11) 54-hole team total, while EKU's Ragga Kristinsdottir earned medalist honors with a 68-72-69 – 209 (-7) ledger.

Akron will be back in action at the Dolores Black Falcon Invite hosted by Bowling Green on Saturday-Sunday, April 10-11 at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio.
