AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips women's golf team is set to host the Akron Invitational at Portage Country Club on Friday and Saturday, April 16-17.
Portage Country Club is a par-71 course that stretches 6,265 yards and the home of the Akron Zips women's golf team. The two-day, 36-hole tournament features six teams with five golfers each and 10 individuals for a total of 40 players.
The competing teams include Akron (host), Eastern Michigan, Indianapolis, Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan. In addition, Kent State entered two individuals into the field.
Friday's opening 18-hole round is slated tee times off holes No. 1 and 10 in 10-minute intervals, starting at 9 a.m. with the final group teeing off around 10:10 a.m. on the front and the back.
The Zips' starting five includes junior Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio), sophomore Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio), sophomore Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India), freshman Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio), freshman Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio). In addition, freshman Riley Dean (Lewis Center, Ohio) will be competing as an individual.
Pikunas, Pearce and Dean are scheduled to tee off at 10 a.m. on hole No. 1, while Shah, Hahn and David start their rounds at 10:10 a.m. on the same tee box.
There will be no live scoring for the event. Scores will be entered and released on GolfStat at the end of each round.
