Zips Sweep Top Two Spots in a Pair of Relays at OSU Winter Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Akron Zips swept first and second place in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay and the 400-yard Medley Relay to open The Ohio State Winter Invite on Friday-Sunday, Feb. 11-13 at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion hosted by the buckeyes.

Touching first in the 200 free relay was the team of Paulina Nogaj (22.80), Sara Watson (22.35), Rachel Schiffli (22.73) and Sofia Henell (22.70), stopping the timer at 1:30.58 just shy of the 1:29.21 NCAA B-Cut time. The Zips added a runner-up finish in the race as Lauren Cooper (23.43), Victoria Kaufman (22.78), Madelyn Gatrall and Rebecca Reid (22.70) clocked a 1:32.15 time.

Akron posted it's second win and runner-up finishes in the 400 medley relay with Gatrall (54.06), Paula Garcia (1:00.10), Nogaj (51.15) and Henell (50.81) claiming gold with a 3:36.12 time. Cooper (55.99), Andrea Fischer (1:01.85), Watson (52.59) and Schiffli (50.64) earned silver with a 3:41.07 time.

Akron will be back in action at the OSU Winter Invite on Saturday, Feb. 12 with prelims starting at 11 a.m. and finals starting at 5 p.m. Admission to the OSU Winter Invitational is free. Fans can also follow the action on B1G+ Network or via Live Results.
