AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips swimming & diving team is scheduled to be back in the water for their final regular season meet of the season at The Ohio State Winter Invite on Friday-Sunday, Feb. 11-13 at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion hosted by the buckeyes.

What's Ahead
The three-day meet features five teams, including Ohio State (Host), Akron, Ball State, Cleveland State, John Carroll and Kentucky. Prelims are scheduled to start each day at 11 a.m. and Finals are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission to the OSU Winter Invitational is free. Paid parking is available in the Tuttle and Neil Avenue Garages. The Neil Avenue Garage is open to the public starting at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Note: Ohio State and City of Columbus policies require wearing of masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status, for all faculty, staff and invitees. The Zips
The No. 25 ranked Akron Zips Swimming & Diving claimed 14-of-16 events en route to a 212-88 dual meet win over the Toledo Rockets at the UToledo Student Recreation Center and Pool.

Prior to the Toledo dual, the swimming and diving program claimed runner-up honors at the Tim Welsh Classic Meet hosted by Notre Dame as Akron won six events and earned five silver medals en route to 993 points, defeating Ohio State (857.5 pts) and falling to the host (1,334.5 pts) at Rolfs Aquatic Center.

The Zips posted wins at the Akron Zips Classic, Magnus Cup Invitational and the Zippy Invitational, while earning runner-up at the Tim Welch Classic. Akron is 4-1 in dual meets this season, defeating Miami (190-110), Eastern Michigan (161-138), Ohio (241-101) and Toledo (212-88) and fell to Ohio State (228-91). The Zips have earned multiple NCAA D1B qualifying times and NCAA Diving Zone qualifying performances.

In addition, Watson garnered three MAC Swimmer of the Week awards this season, while and Kalik claimed a pair MAC Diver of the Week accolades.
