Port Clinton, Ohio – The Akron Zips fired a 622 (+46) team score to finish tied for first place at the Rocket Classic after 36 holes of play at the Par-72, 5,979-yard Catawba Island Club as Avery Wright (Jackson, Ohio), junior Daphne van Son (Vlijmen, Netherlands), senior Abbi Fleiner (Reno, Nev.) and senior Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio) enter the final round ranked in the Top 20.
Wright registered a 6-over par 150 with a pair of 75 (+3) scores and is tied for first with 18 holes left to play. Wright owns a field-best six birdies, carding three birdies in each round. Van Son follows with 75-78 – 153 (+9) ledger for a third-place tie, while Fleiner is tierd for sixth place with a 76-80 – 156 (+12). Rounding out the Top 20 was Hahn with a 76-87 – 163 (+19) score. Sophomore Hridhika Vora (Mumbai, Maharashtra) completed the team scoring with a 175 (+31), while freshman Katrin Horn Danielsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) participated as an individual with a 174 (+30).
The final 18-hole round is scheduled for a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday. Akron will tee off on holes 1-5.
