Ali Scores 20 Points in Akron's 62-61 Loss to Saint Bonaventure

CLEVELAND, Ohio --Ali Ali scored 20 points, but the Akron men's basketball team fell to the Saint Bonaventure Bonnies 62-61 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Saturday.
Ali added three assists and two blocks to his 20 point game to lead the Zips (8-4). Enrique Freeman helped out with a double double of 14 points and 13 rebounds and Shammah Scott chipped in with six points coming off the bench.
Akron's defense held Saint Bonaventure to only 38.1 percent shooting from the field, including 26.7 percent from beyond the arc.
How It Happened
After falling behind 24-14, Akron went on a 9-0 run with 4:49 left in the first half to narrow its deficit to 24-23. Saint Bonaventure answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Zips down 32-26 entering halftime.
After intermission, Akron kept the Bonnies from increasing their lead before going on a 7-0 run to seize a 35-34 lead with 16:15 to go in the contest. Saint Bonaventure re-asserted control, outscoring the Zips 28-26 the rest of the way to hand Akron the 62-61 loss. Akron got out on the break in the period, scoring nine fast break points
