Gorecka, Gatrall and Daniel to Compete at NCAA Championships

2023 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships Central

AKRON, Ohio – A trio of Akron women's swimmers are set to compete in the 2023 NCAA Championships as senior Weronika Gorecka (Wroclaw, Poland), junior Madelyn Gatrall (Windsor, Ontario, Canada) and sophomore Abigail Daniel (Bristow, Va.) are set to compete on the NCAA's biggest stage which is being hosted at the University of Tennessee at Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center on March 15-18.

All three Akron swimmers are set to compete in three events each as Gorecka and Gatrall both qualified for the 100 and 200 backstroke events.

Gorecka enters the NCAA Championships ranked 27^th overall in the 200 Back with a 1:53.33 time followed by a 41^st ranking in the 200 Free (1:45.39) and 43^rd in the 100 Back (52.54).

Gatrall is among the Top 20 in the 100 Back, ranking 17^th overall with a 51.84 time, while standing 31^st overall in the 200 Back (1:53.50) and 52nd in the 50 Free (22:51).

Daniel is making her first appearance at the NCAA meet and ranks 21^st in the 100 Fly (51.65), 29^th in the 200 IM (1:56.26) and 42^nd in the 200 Fly (1:56.46).

The action for the Zips is slated to begin on Thursday, March 16 with the 200 IM (Daniel) followed by the 50 Free (Gatrall). On Friday, March 17, all three of Akron's swimmers are set to compete as the 100 Fly (Daniel), 200 Free (Gorecka) and 100 Back (Gorecka & Gatrall) are on deck. The final day of competition also showcases all three Zips with the 200 Back (Gorecka & Gatrall) and 200 Fly (Daniel).
