Zips Fall to Ball State on the Road

MUNCIE, Ind. -Â The Akron volleyball team fell on the road Friday to the Ball State Cardinals 3-0 (16-25, 16-25, 20-25).
Three Zips finished tied with eight kills. Delaney Gash and Karleighana Jones, who both hit over .500, and Emanouela Christodoulou led the attack for the Blue and Gold.  The Zips were also got 9 digs from Vanessa Del Real to lead them defensively.
The loss dropped Akron's record to 7-11 overall and 3-3 in MAC play.
Game Notes
» Eliska Vytiskova had a team-high three aces in the loss.
» Gash, Jones and Christodoulou all had a team-high eight kills for Akron.
» Akron got a team-high nine digs from Vanessa Del Real.
» Akron attackers were helped by a match-high 23 assists from Eliska Vytiskova.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Zips found themselves in an early deficit, dropping a tough first set 25-16. Akron trailed by as many as 10 points as Ball State never surrendered the lead in a set that was tied up just once before the Cardinals took control.
SET 2 | Akron then lost set two 25-16 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. The Zips fell behind on the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Akron couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Zips fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before losing the set 25-20.

The Zips travel to face the Miami RedHawks to conclude the week on Saturday, October 12 for a 4 p.m. start
