COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 13th-rated University of Akron rifle team turned in a pair of strong results to highlight the Zips' performances versus top-ranked Kentucky, No. 10 Air Force and Schreiner University on Nov. 23-24.

For the first match at Air Force, Akron registered a score of 4696, its third-best effort of the season. In the process, the Zips upset Air Force (4692) by four points. Redshirt senior Erin Schnupp (Gorham, Maine) led Akron in the smallbore with a 586 total, including a perfect 100 in the standing position, while junior Natalia Siek (Flemington, N.J.) directed the Zips in the air rifle with a season-best 592 score.

The next day Akron walked into the United States Olympic Training Center to again battle Air Force and Kentucky. The Zips finished the match posting a 4707 score, the second-highest score of the season, while recording a season-best air rifle score of 2371. Senior Alexis Kirk (Clarence Center, N.Y.) directed Akron with a 586 total in the smallbore, while redshirt senior Gavin Perkowski (Bolivar, Ohio) led the Zips in the air rifle with a score of 596.

Akron returns to competition traveling to Fairbanks, Alaska, to face Alaska Fairbanks, Army and Ole Miss on Jan. 18-19, 2025.
