AKRON, Ohio - The 13th-ranked University of Akron rifle team opens the second half of its schedule this weekend traveling to Fairbanks, Alaska for a pair of weekend matches.
The Zips will battle second-rated Alaska Fairbanks, No. 9 Ole Miss and No. 16 Army in a 12 p.m. match at Tanana Valley Sportsmen's Association in College, Alaska, on Saturday (Jan. 18). On Sunday (Jan. 19) at noon ET, Akron again square off against Ole Miss and Army on campus of Alaska Fairbanks.
Redshirt senior Gavin Perkowski (Bolivar, Ohio) leads the Zips this season after posting team-best averages of 1179.30 and 594.60, respectively, in the combined and air rifles, while redshirt senior Erin Schnupp (Gorham, Maine) owns a team-best average of 585.50 in the smallbore rifle.

Scheduled to compete for the Zips this weekend will be Perkowski and Schnupp along with seniors Rachel Engels (Meridian, Idaho) and Alexis Kirk (Clarence Center, N.Y.) and juniors Rachael Paddock (Perry, N.Y.) and Natalia Siek (Flemington, N.J.)

Akron returns to competition hosting No. 3 West Virginia on Senior Day at the Robert A. Pinn Shooting Range on Sunday (Jan. 26).
