Zips Start the Zippy Invitational in First Place - Set Meet Record in the 200 MR

AKRON, Ohio - The Akron Swimming and Diving Team finished the first day of the Zippy Invitational in first place and set a meet record.
The Zips finished with 234 points while Buffalo had 204 to place second and Oakland was third with 196.
The Zips started the first day of the Zippy Invitational with a meet record in the 200-yard Medley Relay. The "Z" squad of Madelyn Gatrall (24.23), Claire Cox (27.77), Abigail Daniel (23.09) and Ada Szwabinska (22.24) finished first with a time of 1:37.33. The previous meet record was set in 2017 by the Zips with a time of 1:37.62. Akron also placed second, as the "I" squad of Rebecca Reid (24.85), Madelyn Bosler (28.58), Aislinn Holder (24.03) and Hannah Trainer (22.53) swam a time of 1:39.99.
Akron also took first in the 800-yard Free Relay with a time of 7:12.66, which was 0:00.24 seconds away from the meet record set by the Zips in 2018. The "Z" squad of Helena Lalkovic (1:50.06), Dominika Kossakowska (1:46.65), Gatrall (1:46.86) and Daniel (1:49.09) swam the fastest time.
The Zippy Invitational continues tomorrow at 9 a.m.
