Zips Take Down Buffalo,181-118, on the Road Saturday

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Akron swimming and diving team took down Buffalo on the road 181-118Â Â on the road Saturday.
The Zips claimed gold in 11 of the 16 events.
Akron started the dual with Buffalo with a first-place finish in the 200-yard Medley Relay. The "A" squad of Madelyn Gatrall, Claire Cox, Abigail Daniel and Ada Szwabinska finished with a time of 1:42.19.
Maggie Patterson took second in the 1000-yard Free with a time of 10:36.58 while Dominika Kossakowska finished first in the 200-yard Free with a time of 1:52.41.
Akron claimed another gold medal in the 100-yard Back as Gatrall finished with a time of 54.68. In the 100-yard Brest, Madelyn Bosler and Claire Cox took second and third with times of 1:05.53 and 1:05.59.
Daniel took first in the 200-yard Fly with a time of 2:01.32 while Hannah Trainer finished third with a time of 2:08.53.
The 50-yard Free saw the Blue and Gold take the top three spots. Szwabinska finished first (23.29) while Aislinn Holder took second (23.95) and Felicia Klintemar took third (24.10).
Elizabeth Noble finished fifth in the 3-meter and 1-meter diving events with scores of 267.90 and 260.33.
The 100-Yard Free featured the top four times going to the Zips. Szwabinska finished with the top time of 51.31 while Julia Mauter finished second (51.66), Trainer took third (52.11) and Holder finished fourth (52.99)
Gatrall claimed gold in the 200-yard Back event with a time of 2:01.26 while Rebecca Reid took third with a time of 2:05.22.
The Zips took the top two spots in the 200-yard Breast with Bosler claiming first (2:21.94) and Kendall Craig coming in second (2:23.94).
Helena Lalkovic led Akron in the 500-yard Free with a third-place finish (5:09.50) while Daniel (54.91) and Kilntemar (55.03) finished first and second in the 100-yard Fly.
The Zips concluded the dual with Buffalo by claiming gold in the 100-yard IM and 200-yard Free Relay.
In the 100 IM, Daniel claimed the fastest time of 57.18 while Kilntemar took third with a time of 58.79. The 200 Free Relay saw the "A" squad of Gatrall, Szwabinska, Holder and Reid finish first (1:33.32) while the "B" squad of Mauter, Trainer, Brienne Trumpower and Kossakowska took second with a time of 1:36.03.
The Zips are back in action when they travel to South Bend, Ind. to take part in the Tim Welsh Classic on the campus of Notre Dame from January 24-25.
