AKRON, Ohio -Â The University of Akron women's soccer fell to Kent State, 2-1, on Sunday (Oct. 5) at home at FirstEnergy Stadium.
How it Happened
Kent State netted the first goal tallied by an opponent in the opening stanza of a Mid-American Conference game this season when Jules Dolinski scored in the 20th minute (19:13), assisted by Kelsey Salopek.
The Zips came out attacking to open the second half but were unable to find the equalizer before the Golden Flashes went up 2-0 on a goal from Ava Lukyan at the 81:09 mark, assisted by Salopek and Allison Burkey.
Akron got on the scoreboard to make it a 2-1 game on junior Jordanne Oberhaus' (Wadsworth, Ohio) 85th-minute goal (84:01), her first career tally as a Zip. Senior Emma King (Akron, Ohio) and junior Rachel Wenzel (Akron, Ohio) assisted the goal. The score finished off the 2-1 game.

- Junior GK Sara Bower (Cincinnati, Ohio) and redshirt freshman GK Ariana Vakos (Avon, Ohio),each collected one save for the Zips out of four total Golden Flashes shots.
- Akron registered two shots on goal.
