AKRON, Ohio -Â The University of Akron lacrosse team travels to the Motor City for a Mid-American Conference showdown at Detroit Mercy on Sunday (March 30) at noon.

ZIPS NAME TRIO TEAM CAPTAINS FOR 2025:
The Akron senior trio of Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa.), Jaelyn Clinkscales (Rochester, N.Y.) and Bryanne Harner (Friendswood, Texas) will serve as the Zips' captains for the 2025 campaign.

SCOUTING AKRON:
Sophomore Sienna Hinchcliffe (Rochester, Minn.) leads the Zips in goals (34), points (41), shots (81) and shots on goal (61). Noelle Boyd paces the squad in assists (13) and draw controls (54), while ranking third in ground balls (23). Junior Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.) directs the team in caused turnovers (12). Senior goalkeeper Hannah Sanders (Massillon, Ohio) has registered 76 saves and a team-high 27 ground balls.

Akron is meeting Detroit Mercy for the seventh time in program history. The Titans enter their showdown with the Zips at 4-5 on the campaign, including 1-0 in the Mid-American Conference, following a 13-10 victory at Kent State on March 23. Junior Libby Cuckler directs Detroit's offensive efforts pacing the squad in goals (18) and shots on goal (29), while ranking second in points (25) and shots (33) and third in assists (7). Senior goalkeeper Meredith Leavell has collected 106 saves and 36 ground balls on the campaign en route to posting a 14.03 goals against average. Detroit Mercy is led by first-year head coach Alexa Matta, who owns a 4-5 ledger as a head coach for the Titans and is 34-39 in six years overall as a head coach.

IN OUR LAST MEETING (APRIL 14, 2024 – AKRON, OHIO):
Akron withstood a late charge from Detroit Mercy to earn an 11-10 triumph past the Titans in Mid-American Conference action on April 14, 2024, at InfoCision Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Jaelyn Clinkscales and junior Kellen Fletcher (Valencia, Pa.) each netted a trio of goals to lead the offensive efforts for the Zips.
• Adding two goals each was Noelle Boyd and Sienna Hinchcliffe, while Jacqueline Glassey rounded out the scoring efforts for Akron with a goal.
• Hinchcliffe and senior Graceann Schwab (Rochester, N.Y.) tallied a pair of assists each, while tallying one assist apiece was Boyd, Glassey and Macy Vail.
• Boyd and Fletcher each recorded a team-high five shots, including five and four on goal, respectively.
• Alexi Hardy and Bryanne Harner netted a pair of caused turnovers, while collecting a team-best five ground balls was Kylan Rhude.
• Boyd led Akron with four draw controls.
• Rhude pulled in 11 saves for the Zips.

Spearheaded by a four-goal and two-assist performance from Noelle Boyd, Akron registered a 9-7 triumph past Central Michigan on Sunday (March 23) at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field.
The victory improved the Zips to 2-0 in the Mid-American Conference for the first time in program history, while also marking the initial win for Akron over Central Michigan.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• With her first goal of the afternoon at the 11:03 mark of the opening quarter Boyd became the all-time leading goal scorer in program history with her 116th tally of her decorated career.
• Adding two goals apiece for Akron was Katie Baumer and Sienna Hinchcliffe, while Jaelyn Clinkscales rounded out the scoring efforts for the Zips with a goal of her own.
• Boyd posted a game-high two assists to go along with an assist each from Clinkscales, Kellen Fletcher and sophomore Kaitlyn Sikorski (Plymouth, Minn.).
• Boyd and Hinchcliffe each tallied a game-high six shots, including six on goal, while Baumer added five shots.
