SCOUTING EASTERN MICHIGAN
Eastern Michigan comes into its showdown with Akron on Wednesday (March 5) at 2-25 on the campaign, including 1-15 in the Mid-American Conference, following a 71-54 setback at Buffalo on Saturday (March 1).

Junior Sisi Eleko leads the Eagles averaging a team-best 17.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. As a team, Eastern Michigan is recording 60.0 points, 31.6 rebounds, 11.0 assists, 5.6 steals and 1.8 blocks per tilt.

The Eagles are rated 40th in the NCAA in three-point attempts per game (24.6), while Eleko is ranked 17th in defensive rebounds (7.4), 22nd in rebounds per contest (10.2), 26th in double-doubles (13) and 47th in total rebounds (264).

SERIES HISTORY
Akron and Eastern Michigan are meeting for the 51st time in program history. The Zips lead the series, 31-19, after the Zips registered a 61-56 victory on Jan. 11, 2025, in Ypsilanti, Mich.

IN OUR LAST MEETING (JAN. 11, 2025 – YPSILANTI, MICH.)
Akron senior Emily Hall (Phoenix, N.Y.), junior Maddie Vejsicky (New Concord, N.Y.) and senior Zakia Rasheed (Avon, Ind.) combined to score 46 of Akron's 61 total points as the Zips knocked off Eastern Michigan, 61-56, on the road on Jan. 11, 2025.

The Zips had three players score in double figures, led by Hall, who had a season-high 17 points. Vejsicky tacked on a career-high 15 points off the bench, while Rasheed chipped in as well with 14 points.

Redshirt senior Shelbee Brown (Memphis, Tenn.) pulled down three offensive rebounds to pace an offense that racked up second-chance opportunities for Akron, grabbing 13 boards and turning them into five second-chance points.

KENT STATE EARNS RIVALRY WIN OVER AKRON
Akron senior Alexus Mobley (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Shelbee Brown combined to score 28 total points, but the Zips fell to Kent State, 64-44, at James A. Rhodes Arena on Saturday (March 1).

Mobley registered 16 points with two rebounds, a block and a steal, while Brown posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Zips. Junior Liisa Taponen (Tampere, Finland) and freshman Liz Murphy (Yackandandah, Australia) added five points and one assist each, while grabbing five and three rebounds, respectively.

Brown pulled down six offensive rebounds to lead an offense that racked up second-chance opportunities for Akron, grabbing 15 boards and turning them into nine second-chance points. Zakia Rasheed led Akron with two steals.

BRONCOS EDGE THE ZIPS, 77-66
Akron got a 19-point and nine-rebound showing from Shelbee Brown but fell 77-66 to Western Michigan on the road on Feb. 26.

The Zips had four players score in double figures, led by Brown, who had 19 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Alexus Mobley added 14 points, six rebounds and five assists off the bench, while freshman Ni'Rah Clark (Toledo, Ohio) chipped in as well with 11 points and six rebounds. Maddie Vejsicky rounded out Akron's double-figure scorers with 10 points.

Akron out-rebounded Western Michigan 35-22, paced by Brown's nine boards. The Zips also pulled down 14 offensive rebounds and scored 19 second-chance points.

AKRON TO HONOR FOUR ZIPS ON SENIOR NIGHT
The Zips' contest versus Eastern Michigan on Wednesday (March 5) will mark Senior Night in the careers of seniors Emily Hall, Ellen Kinnaird (Lewis Center, Ohio), Alexus Mobley and Zakia Rasheed.

Hall has appeared in 27 games as a Zip, including 16 starts, recording 3.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per outing.

Kinnaird joined the squad in January and has played in nine games after a decorated career on the Akron volleyball team.

Mobley has played in 54 career games at Akron, including 36 starts, recording 9.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals per outing.

A four-year member of the Akron squad, Rasheed has appeared in 101 career games, including earning 39 starts, and has recorded 4.2 points, 1.6 assists and 1.4 rebounds per contest.

SIMMONS GARNERS TOPCONNECT GALA HONORS
Kelly Simmons of the Akron women's basketball program was among 21 graduate assistants who participated in the TopConnect Graduate Assistant Leadership Academy with coach Josh Pastner.

Simmons completed eight sessions and is among the future leaders in college basketball.

This academy identifies up-and-coming coached in the country and provides them the necessary skills and relationships to assist them on their career path.
