BALTIMORE, Md. – The University of Akron lacrosse team ran into an offensive explosion as UMBC registered 13 second-half goals en route to dealing the Zips a 22-8 setback on Friday (April 11).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Sophomore Sienna Hinchcliffe (Rochester, N.Y.) led the offensive efforts for the Zips recording a team-high three goals on the strength of a team-best seven shots, including five on goal.
• Senior goalkeeper Hannah Sanders (Massillon, Ohio) tallied a career-best 13 saves for the Zips.
• With her first save of the match, Sanders collected her 300th career save, the most in program history.
• Juniors Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.), redshirt senior Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa) and junior Heather Carey (Williamsville, N.Y.) added two, two and one goal, respectively, for Akron.
• Tallying one assist apiece was Boyd, Carey, Hinchcliffe and senior Graceann Schwab (Rochester, N.Y.).
• Boyd match Hinchcliffe tallying a team-high seven shots, including five on goal.
• Freshman Julia Mattingly (Leonardstown, Md.) led the Zips with a team-best three ground balls, while Hinchcliffe garnered a team-best nine draw controls.
