CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the third time this season an Akron pitcher claimed the Mid-American Conference top honor as sophomore Macy Walters earned MAC Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday, April 8.
Walters claimed her second MAC honor after posting three wins in the circle for the Zips last week, defeating Bowling Green twice with 10-2 and 7-6 wins while earning a split decision against Ohio with a 3-2 win and a 7-3 loss.

Walters opened the week with a 6.0 inning performance against BGSU and surrendered her only two earned runs of the week. The Bobcats used five hits and both free passes for the two runs as Walters threw four strikeouts.
In the second game against BGSU, Walters threw 1.1 innings for the 7-6 win over the Falcons, allowing only two hits. She entered the ballgame in a 6-6 stalemate after a Falcon two-run homer tied the game. She retired the sixth inning and recorded three outs in the seventh inning after Akron reclaimed the lead in the bottom half of the sixth.
Against Ohio, Walters hurled a complete 7.0 innings for a 3-2 in the opener with no earned runs allowed. The Bobcats were limited to six hits, while Walters struck out two batters.
In the second game against the Bobcats, she entered the game for two batters and left game after getting hit by a batted ball. She allowed two hits and both runs eventually scored after an Akron fielding error with two outs.
