Four Akron players notch at least two hits in 5-4 loss to Ball State

AKRON, Ohio -- Four Akron players notched at least two hits, but the Zips fell to the Ball State Cardinals 5-4 at The 2025 Mid-American Conference Championships on Friday at Firestone Stadium.

Lily Sullivan led the offensive attach with a 2-for-4 performance with a pair of RBIs. Sophia Wygast also went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Alexis Campbell added a 2-for-3 effort with a walk and Meagan Lee went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored.

Sophomore Madie Jamrog (10-7) got the ball to start for Akron (30-25) and took the loss.

The MAC Softball Championships concludes the Zips 2025 campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Zips got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Akron scored twice, with one run coming across on sophomore Lily Sullivan's single.

The Zips lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the third trailing 3-2. Akron scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Sullivan, which evened the score at 3-3.

Ball State busted up the tie and grabbed a 4-3 lead heading into the fifth, when Akron tied the game at four. The Zips scored once on an RBI single off the bat of sophomore Sophia Wygast. Ball State then scored one time over the remaining two innings to break the tie and grab the 5-4 win.
