Johnson Named MAC Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - For the third time this season, University of Akron guard Tavari Johnson was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday, February 23.
The senior guard averaged 21 points, six assists, three rebounds and one steal per game along with an assist-turnover ratio of 3.0 on the week. He also went .429 from the field and .889 from the free-throw line.
Johnson started the week with 17 points, six assists, one block and one steal against Western Michigan on Tuesday.
He followed that performance up with a 25-point scoring output at Ball State, his 16th 20+ scoring performance of the season. He shot .450 from the field and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Johnson added six more assists, six rebounds and one steal against the Cardinals.
Akron hosts Buffalo at James A. Rhodes Arena on Tuesday, February 24, for a 7 p.m. start
