Akron Finishes Fifth, Hezri and Na Shongkhla in Top 20

AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips golf team carded a 300 (+20) on the final day of the MAC Championship as Maisarah Hezri led the Zips with a four-over-par 74 score at Firestone Country Club on Tuesday.
Akron concluded the MAC Championship in fifth place (293-296-300 - 889) with a 49-over-par score as a team. Kent State finished first with a 9-under par score, claiming their 27th consecutive title. Eastern Michigan finished second with a 13-over-par score, while Bowling Green finished third with a 22-over-par score.
Hezri finished the three-day competition in 14th place with a 218 (+8). She fired three birdies and eight pars on the final day. She went par or better in her first four holes on the front nine. Overall, Hezri ranked tied for eighth for birdies made (9).
Kirida Goethe Na Songkhla and Sohniya Chandra Mohan both shot 5-over par 75 scores on the third day.
Na Songkhla finished the MAC Championship in 20th place with a 221 (+11). She recorded par on eight of the first nine holes, and recorded par 11 times, while recording a birdie on the 11th hole. She finished 11th for total made pars (35) to lead the Zips at the MAC Championship.
Chandra Mohan finished 34th with a 228 (+18). She recorded par on five of the first nine holes, recording nine pars on the final day, while firing two birdies on the back nine.
Kaitlin Kormuth shot a six-over-par on the final day and finished tied for 26th at 224 (+14). She recorded par or better on eight of the first nine holes, while recording a birdie on the sixth hole. She started the back nine with back-to-back birdies and recorded par three times.
Hridhika Vora rounded out the Zips' scoring with an eight-over-par performance. She finished the MAC Championship in 37th place with a 232 (+22). She concluded the MAC Championships tied for fifth on Par 3s (+1). She recorded 11 pars, with seven of those coming on the final seven holes of the day. She also fired a birdie on the 11th hole to record a stretch of par or better on the final eight holes.
