AKRON, Ohio - The Akron baseball team is set for a pair of mid-week contests as it battles West Virginia Wesleyan at home on Tuesday, while traveling to Kent State on Wednesday for a non-conference battle.

On the mound, Brady Bowen leads the staff with a 3-1 record in nine appearances and 26.1 innings of work with a 1.37 ERA, a 0.87 WHIP and a .182 average against. Floyd McKenna leads the way in appearances (14), while being tied with Elijah Griffith for strikeouts (24) and Taylor Bednar for saves (2). Griffith holds the top mark in innings pitched (42.0).

West Virginia Wesleyan: Wesleyan enters the week with a 9-24 overall record after winning a doubleheader with West Virginia State on Saturday. The Bobcats are led by Alex Smith in average (.307), while Grant Shumaker leads the way in hits (33) and is tied for the lead in doubles (5) with four other players. Dylan Neach holds the top mark in home runs (3) and home runs (16).
Alex Hernandez leads the pitching staff with three wins in eight appearances, six starts and two complete games in 41.1 innings. Hernandez also has a team-leading 31 strikeouts.
Kent State: The Golden Flashes enter the week with a 23-7 overall record, have won their last four games and are 11-4 at home so far this season.
Kent went 4-0 last week, sweeping Ohio in a conference series and Baldwin Wallace in a non-conference mid-week battle.
