LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Akron redshirt senior Owen Wendl (Medina, Ohio) led the efforts of the Zips on the opening day of the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Thursday (May 27).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Wendl garnered a mark of 60-2.50 (18.35m) to place 18th in the men's shot put.
• Junior Christopher Vance (Parma, Ohio) and redshirt senior Lane Graham (Killbuck, Ohio) posted marks of 204-11 (62.46m) and 200-7 (61.15m) in the men's hammer.
• Sophomore Kaden Rambatt (Sharon, Wis.) eclipsed the bar at 16-6.75 (5.05m) in the men's pole vault.
• Junior Andrew Styles (Freeport, Bahamas) crossed the line in 20.88 in the opening round of qualifying in the men's 200 meters.
• Redshirt sophomore Jeffrey Usman (Warri, Nigeria) registered a jump of 18-8.75 (5.71m) in the men's long jump.
