Akron Softball Places Seven Players on All-MAC Teams

AKRON, Ohio — The University of Akron softball program was well represented in the 2026 Mid-American Conference postseason awards as seven players earned All-MAC honors, the league announced Wednesday.
The 2026 Akron Zips softball team posted a 21-6 conference record and a 31-23 overall mark, claiming the 2026 MAC Regular Season Championship for the first time since 1998.
Akron placed three players on the All-MAC First Team, led by junior catcher Katie Cantrell, senior outfielder Meagan Lee and junior first baseman Sophia Wygast.
Cantrell headlined Akron's individual honors as she was named an All-MAC First Team in addition to her MAC Defensive Player of the Year honor. The junior catcher was a steady presence behind the plate and in the lineup, batting .299 with 43 hits and 28 RBIs in 51 games. In conference play, she elevated her performance with a .346 average and 21 RBIs while posting a .992 fielding percentage.
Lee turned in one of the most consistent offensive seasons in the conference, hitting.379 in 27 conference starts with 36 hits, 30 runs scored, five doubles, a triple, and 12 RBI in 95 at-bats. She has drawn 15 walks against just four strikeouts, producing a .459 on-base percentage and .453 slugging percentage in league play. Lee has stolen four bases in five attempts and has not committed a single error in 60 conference chances, posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in center field. Overall she posted a .414 batting average with 75 hits and 47 runs scored. Lee is the all-time career hits leader at Akron (275) and a three-time All-MAC recipient.
Wygast has been Akron's most dangerous power hitter in MAC play, batting .402 with six home runs and a team-high 34 RBI in 26 conference starts. She has posted a .652 slugging percentage and .477 on-base percentage across 92 at-bats, with five doubles and 13 walks against nine strikeouts. Defensively she has been flawless, posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage on 140 conference chances.
Akron added three more honorees on the All-MAC Second Team, including juniors Madie Jamrog and Lily Sullivan as well as sophomore Haley Glass.
Jamrog has been the MAC's most valuable pitcher in 2026, going 12-2 with a 3.44 ERA across 19 conference appearances and 13 starts. She has logged 103.2 innings in league play with 59 strikeouts and just 28 walks, completing nine of her 13 starts and adding a shutout and a save. Opponents have hit just .296 against her in conference action. Her 12 wins against just 2 losses have been the backbone of Akron's 21-6 MAC record.
Sullivan has been one of the MAC's most complete players in conference play, batting .368 in 27 starts with 32 hits, 26 runs scored, seven doubles, two triples, three home runs, and 24 RBI across 87 at-bats. She owns a .598 slugging percentage and .451 on-base percentage in league games, drawing 13 walks against 12 strikeouts. Sullivan has also been a key contributor up the middle defensively, posting a .947 fielding percentage on 75 conference chances.
Glass emerged as one of the MAC's top power hitters in conference play, slugging .693 with six home runs and 22 RBI in 25 starts across 75 at-bats. She is batting .360 with seven doubles, a .443 on-base percentage, and 11 walks against 13 strikeouts in league play. Defensively she has been perfect, posting a 1.000 fielding percentage on 50 conference chances with zero errors.
Freshman Kenzie Gatti represented Akron on the All-MAC Freshman Team after appearing in 44 games and batting .243 with 25 hits, 22 RBIs and four home runs. In conference play, she hit .279 with 18 RBIs and a .544 slugging percentage.
As a team, Akron hit .298 with 434 hits, 53 home runs and 291 RBIs across 54 games, while raising its production in conference play with a .327 batting average and .543 slugging percentage. In the circle, the Zips posted a 4.66 ERA overall and improved to 4.15 against MAC opponents. The Zips set single-season program records in home runs (53), RBI (291) and walks (194).
