Senior Duo Leads Zips on Day One of Akron Last Chance Invitational

AKRON, Ohio – Akron redshirt senior Gabrielle Griffiths (Fort Worth, Texas) registered a career-best mark of 205-1 (62.52m) to win the women's hammer invitational and headline the efforts of the Zips on the opening day of the Akron Last Chance Invitational on Wednesday (May 6).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Griffiths won the women's hammer invitational on the strength of the fourth-best mark in outdoor program history (205-1/62.52m).
• Redshirt senior Brook Boes (Tiffin, Ohio) and junior Victoria Kuol (Centerville, Ohio) placed second and third, respectively, in the women's elite hammer with marks of 192-2 (58.57m) and 180-3 (54.96m). Boes' throw represented a career-best mark.
• Redshirt senior Lane Graham (Killbuck, Ohio) and junior Christopher Vance (Parma, Ohio) finished second and third in the men's hammer invitational with marks of 218-2 (66.51m) and 204-8 (62.40m).
