Zips Shine on Senior Day as Akron Last Chance Invitational Concludes

AKRON, Ohio – On a day where the University of Akron track and field team honored its 11 seniors, the Zips posted 10 victories as part of 25 top three performances on the final day of Akron Last Chance Invitational on Thursday (May 7) at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Junior Braylyn Farrington (Alabaster, Ala.) won the men's 400 meters in a career-best time of 46.99.
• Redshirt senior Cassidy Allen (Lakewood, N.Y.) eclipsed 13-5.75 (4.11m) to win the women's pole vault.
• Junior AJ Jordan (Columbus, Ohio) won the men's 200 meters in a time of 21.27.
• Senior Ruth Webb (Akron, Ohio) won the women's high jump with a mark of 5-7.25 (1.71m).
• Junior Majid Abuaun (Rocky River, Ohio) bested the field in the men's 800 meters in a time of 1:53.93.
• Redshirt senior Emily Razo (Salem, Ohio) won the women's 5,000 meters in 20:13.57.
• Junior Bram de Raedt (Houthalen-Helchteren, Belgium) captured the men's 400-meters hurdles in a career-best time of 53.07.
• Junior Kavel Ritchie (Spanish Town, Jamaica) bested the field in the women's long jump with a leap of 18-9.25 (5.72m).
• Junior La'Kasja Edwards (Alliance, Ohio) registered a mark of 151-0 (46.04m) to triumph in the women's discus.
• The men's 4x100 relay team of sophomore Garrett Tiller (Streetsboro, Ohio), Jordan and junior Rennie Gittens, Jr. (Miami, Fla.) and Andrew Styles (Freeport, Bahamas) took the title in 40.36.
• Akron honored its 11 seniors as part of Senior Day. Among those being honored were Allen, Brook Boes (Tiffin, Ohio), Tai'Yanna Cage (West Palm Beach, Fla.), Lane Graham (Killbuck, Ohio), Gabrielle Griffiths (Fort Worth, Texas), Benjamin Hudak (Tallmadge, Ohio), Razo, Sophia Spencer (Medina, Ohio), Rashaun Stewart (West Moreland, Jamaica), Webb and Owen Wendl (Medina, Ohio).
