PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Despite winning the shots battle 16-9, Akron fell 2-0 on the road against Duquesne at Arthur J. Rooney Field. on Thursday (Aug. 27).

The Zips attempted eight shots in each half as Duquesne's goalkeeper Ali Hughes registered seven saves en route to the shutout win. Akron threated several times after the Dukes established a 2-0 advantage by halftime.

After the break, Akron continued to apply pressure but did not connect with the back of the net. Zips goalkeeper Sara Bower registered a pair of saves in each half.

With the setback Akron moves to 2-1 overall, while Duquesne improved to 2-2 on the season.

How it Happened
After the Dukes took a 2-0 lead into the halftime break, Akron kept Duquesne off the scoreboard the rest of the way. Sara Bower led Akron with four saves. The Zips recorded 16 shots in the loss, seven of them on goal. Akron faced nine Duquesne shots, six of them on goal.
