No. 9 Men's Soccer Hits the Road to Face West Virginia

AKRON, Ohio — The Akron men's soccer team will hit the country roads to Morgantown, W. Va., where they will face off against West Virginia on Thursday, September 3 at 7 p.m.
The Zips climbed up to No. 9 in the latest United Soccer Coaches (USC) poll and come into the matchup with a 2-0-1 record. The Mountaineers are 1-1-1 after playing Charlotte (loss), St. Bonaventure (win) and No. 21 UNC-Greensboro (tie) to open their 2026 campaign. Last season, West Virginia went 13-5-3 and made their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance while they were picked to win the Sun Belt Conference in this year's preseason coaches poll.
Akron is coming off a 1-0 victory over Wake Forest back on August 28 at FirstEnergy Stadium. Noa Testa notched the Zips' lone goal in the 83rd minute. Akron — who was picked to finish atop the Big East Midwest Division in the preseason coaches poll — began 2026 with a 3-0 victory vs. Dayton and a scoreless draw with Army.
