NORTON, Ohio — Megan Hipple paced the Akron women's cross country team as they dominated at the season-opening Tommy Evans Invitational at Silver Creek Cross Country Trails.
The senior won the 5K race in a time of 17:05.7, while Abigael Kiplagat (18:15.7), Kennedy Schlessman (18:18.4), Madeline Grant (18:34.6) and Kayla Sucharski (18:37.0) each followed second through fifth.
The Zips won the meet with 15 points, followed by Walsh who finished with 49.
Addison Ranly came in 14th (19:48.1), and Fiona Battle was right behind in 15th (19:48.3).
Autumn Sowinski rounded out Akron's competitors with a 41st-place finish (22:25.9).

Akron will head to Kalamazoo for Western Michigan's George Dales Invitational at The Prairies Golf Club on Friday, September 18.
