Witt was hired as the hitting coach at the University of Akron in July of 2024.
Entering his second season at Akron, Witt moves into the hitting coach position for the first time after serving as the volunteer assistant in 2024. Witt comes from Missouri State University where he served as a student and graduate assistant for four years. Helping the Bears to an NCAA regional in 2022, Witt also played a big role in the development of 2023 MLB fifth rounder Spencer Nivens (Kansas City Royals). Nivens also earned Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year honors as well all-defensive team in the outfield.
Before his stint with Missouri State, Witt played for Campbell University and helped the Camels win a Big South Championship in 2019. Witt also was a member of junior college powerhouse Crowder College in 2017 and 2018. Witt helped the Roughriders qualify for the NJCAA Division 1 World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado for just the second time in program history.
Witt earned a bachelor’s degree in education in 2021 and a master’s degree in sport’s management in 2023, both from Missouri State. He resides in Akron, Ohio.
