AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips baseball team fell 17-2 to the No. 12 ranked Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets at Skeeles Field on Tuesday.

The Zips (11-29) scattered six hits as seniors Jerry Reinhart (Batavia, N.Y.) Â and Bryant Shellenbarger (Mount Vernon, Ohio) led the way with 2-for-3 performances. Reinhart doubled down the right field line and sent an RBI single to left, while Shellenbarger issued singles to left field and center field. Graduate Justin Barr (Pensacola, Fla.) and freshman Ian Pennington (Springboro, Ohio) added singles and Pennington drove a run across the plate.

Baldwin Wallace (27-6) scored five runs before Akron plated is first run, including a lead-off homerun to open the game. After the Zips scored in the third inning, BW added a pair of runs in the fifth for a 7-1 lead. The Zips added a run in the bottom half of the inning, but the Yellow Jackets surged for eight runs in the sixth and added two runs in the seventh for the win.
