Athens, Ohio – The Akron Zips baseball team scored 17 runs over four games, but the homestanding Ohio Bobcats plated 36 runs over the same span to earn the series sweep last weekend at Bob Wren Stadium.

The Bobcats (24-19, 16-12) finished the weekend strong after calming the opener 12-4 as Ohio won Sunday's doubleheader by scores of 5-2 and 8-6 before posting an 11-5 win in the series finale.

The Zips (13-35, 11-25 MAC) were led by Ian Pennington, Tate Wargo and Nick Arrivo. Pennington posted a team-best .545 batting average over the four-game set, pounding out six hits in 11 at-bats for four RBI, three runs scored and a homerun. He went 1-for-1 with two walks in game two, 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI and runs scored in game three, and 2-for-5 in the finale with two RBI.

Wargo scattered eight hits to lead the Zips in the hits column while registering a .471 BA 0n an 8-for-17 effort. Arrivo collected three hits in game three with an RBI and run scored to follow a 1-for-3 performance in game two. In the final game of the series, Wargo wen 1-for-5 with a run scored.

Arrivo recorded five hits on the weekend for a .455 BA in 11 at-bats. Arrivo delivered 3-of-5 hits in game three with a run scored.

Akron is scheduled to play the Miami RedHawks in the final #MACtion series of the season on Friday-Sunday, May 13-15 at Skeeles Field. Fans can watch the action live on Zips Digital Network or via live stats on GoZips.com.
