AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron football team took Buffalo to overtime Saturday afternoon inside InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field before dropping a 13-10 decision.

Redshirt senior QB DJ Irons (Lawrenceville, Ga.) paced the Zips rushing attack by accumulating 77 yards over the course of the game, averaging 4.8 yards per carry. Redshirt senior RB Lorenzo Lingard (Orange City, Fla.) also added 47 yards on the ground, averaging 5.2 yards per carry.

Redshirt sophomore WR Myles Walker (Elwood City, Pa.) reeled in four catches for 40 yards as Irons threw for 136 yards on a 19 of 26 performance.

Junior DL CJ Nunnally, IV (Douglasville, Ga.) showed out for the Akron defense, collecting four tackles, 3.0 TFL, and two sacks. Senior DB KJ Martin (Charleston, W.Va.) added seven tackles, 1.0 TFL, and one sack.

Akron's defense held up against Buffalo's offense, allowing 254 total yards and limited the UB QB Cole Snyder to his lowest passing totals in two seasons. The Zips kept the Bulls under 150 yards on both the ground and through the air, allowing 142 passing and 112 rushing yards.

How It Happened

Akron got on the scoreboard first with :38 remaining in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead on a one-yard touchdown from Irons to redshirt senior RB Drake Anderson (Chadler, Ariz.). Buffalo then tied things up at 7-7 before the Zips responded with a 38-yard field goal from freshman K Owen Wiley (Avon Lake, Ohio) to jump back ahead 10-7.

» Buffalo outgained Akron 254-253 in the contest.
» The Zips had four players with more than eight tackles in the ballgame led by sophomore LB Bryan McCoy (Chicago, Ill.), who had 14.
» Irons completed 73.1 percent of his passes on the day, going 19-for-26.
» Cole Snyder led the Bulls passing attack, completing 19 of his 34 attempts for 142 yards and one touchdown.
» Ron Cook led the Buffalo rushing attack with 62 yards.
