MURRAY, Ky. - The 12th-ranked University of Akron rifle team split a pair of weekend matches as the Zips battled Tennessee at Martin and No. 6 Ole Miss.

Akron recorded 4704 points to 4658 from UT Martin to edge the Skyhawks on Friday (Oct. 11) before Ole Miss bested the Zips, 4702-4694, on Saturday (Oct. 12).

In smallbore, senior Erin Schnupp (Gorham, Maine) lead the squad with a career-best 588 mark against UT Martin, while in the air rifle senior Gavin Perkowski (Bolivar, Ohio) took the top-gun honors posting a 597 total.

In the showdown with the Rebels, Schnupp again led the Zips with a 587 score, while Perkowski fired a team-best 596 total in the air rifle.

Akron returns to competition hosting John Jay College in an 8:30 a.m. match on Saturday (Oct. 19) at the Robert A. Pinn Shooting Range.
