Akron took the inaugural meeting with a 3-1 victory on October 9, 1992 and took eight straight victories over the Chippewas from October 7, 1998 through September 26, 2003. CMU has taken five of the last six meetings while the Zips defeated the Chippewas in the most recent meeting 3-2 on October 6, 2023.

Honoring our Seniors
Akron will honor seven members of the volleyball team on Saturday against Central Michigan. Isabelle Percoco, Melina Christodoulou, Ellen Kinnaird, Melisa Tore, Sammie Sabra, Karleighana Jones and Lauren Baker will all be honored.
Akron enters with an 11-17 overall record, a 7-9 record in conference and a 3-9 record at James A. Rhodes Arena.
The Zips recently swept Eastern Michigan 3-0 in a pair of road contests on November 8 and 9.
Emanouela Christodoulou finished with 14 kills on Friday to lead the Zips attack. Eliska Vytiskova also pitched in with six aces in the contest. Vytiskova's six aces ties her for the seventh most recorded by a Zip in a single game. She also finished with 29 assists. Defensively, Akron was led by Delaney Gash and her 12 digs. Gash also chipped in with nine kills on the night. Ellen Kinnaird recorded four blocks against the Eagles while Gabby Brissett and Gash both had two.
Delaney Gash finished with 14 kills on Saturday to lead the Zips offense. Defensively, Akron had three players reach double figures in digs, including Reilly Chausse's 11, 10 from Eliska Vytiskova, and 10 more from Vanessa Del Real. From the front row, Ellen Kinnaird contributed six blocks. After recording 30 assists against the Eagles, Vytiskova now ranks ninth all-time in career assists.
So far this season Lauren Baker leads the Zips in kills (363) and points (412). Eliska Vytiskova is the leader in assists (891) and aces (45) while Vanesa Del Real is the leader in digs (393). Karleighana Jones is the leader in blocks (104).
Akron is in the top-5 in the MAC for points per set (4th - 16.77), total points (2nd- 1894.5), total assists (1st - 1423), assists per set (2nd - 12.59), total kills (2nd - 1488), kills per set (4th - 13.17), fewest blocks allowed per set (3rd - 1.99), fewest aces allowed per set (T2nd - 1.26) aces per set (4th - 1.69) and total aces (1st - 191).Â
Individually, Akron sees Karleighana Jones ranked second in hitting percentage (.402), seventh in total blocks (104) and ninth in blocks per set (.95). Lauren Baker ranks fourth in total kills (363), fifth in kills per set (3.46), fifth in total points (412) and sixth in points per set (3.97). Emanouela Christodoulou is sixth in total kills (319) and ninth in kills per set (3.22). Vanesa Del Real is eighth in total digs (394),10th in digs per set (3.49), fifth in aces (37) and sixth in aces per set (.33). Eliska Vytiskova is fourth in total assists (893), seventh in assists per set (7.90), third in total aces (39) and fourth in aces per set (.40).
As a team, the Zips rank 70th in the NCAA in aces per set (1.69), 46th in assists per set (12.59), 80th in kills per set (13.17), 1st in total assists (1,423), 32nd in total digs (1,653), 2nd in total kills (1,488), 14th in total aces (191), and 92nd in total blocks (215.5).

Central Michigan is on a three game winning streak after beating Eastern Michigan 3-1 last Tuesday and a pair of 3-0 victories over Kent State on Friday and Saturday.
