YPSILANTI, Mich. -The Akron volleyball team secured a three-set victory (25-10, 25-16, 25-23) over the Eastern Michigan Eagles Saturday on the road at George Gervin GameAbove Center.
Delaney Gash finished with 14 kills on the day to lead the Zips offense. Defensively, had three players reach double figures in digs, including Reilly Chausse's 11, 10 from Eliska Vytiskova, and 10 more from Vanessa Del Real. From the front row, Ellen Kinnaird contributed six blocks. After recording 30 assists against the Eagles, Vytiskova now ranks ninth all-time in career assists.
The conference victory improved Akron's record to 11-17 overall and 7-9 in MAC play.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Zips took control of the set-one lead at 3-2 and never trailed to win 25-10. Akron opened up its biggest lead, 15 points, to close out the set. got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked five Eastern Michigan attacks in the stanza and capitalized on 11 Eastern Michigan attacking errors on the way to victory.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Akron put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-16 victory in set number two. The Zips never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 10-9 in a set that showcased three lead changes before Akron took over the lead. The Akron offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza. Akron's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five Eastern Michigan attacks in the stanza.
SET 3 | Akron finished off the match in a 3-0 sweep after taking the third set. The Zips took the lead for good at 21-20 in a set that showcased two lead changes before Akron took over in the second half of the stanza. They then carried that lead to a 25-23 set win.
