HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. - Akron received contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, but the Zips fell to the Purdue Boilermakers 14-4 Sunday.

Evan Bottone and Andrew Horvath both had a multi-hit game against the Boilermakers. Bottone and Will Heisler both drove in two runs each in the contest.

Landon Vandegrift (0-1) got the ball to start for Akron (4-7) and took the loss.Taylor Bednar was a bright spot for the Zips, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one shutout inning, allowing no hits, with no walks and one strikeout.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 8-0, the Zips first put runs on the board in the second inning. Akron's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Heisler and a two-run single from Bottone. The Zips were unable to get any closer, as Purdue added six runs to their tally on the way to a 14-4 final.
