SCOUTING REPORT
Oakland comes into Tuesday with a 5-20 overall record and is 2-1 at home this season. Akron will be one of two midweek contests for the Golden Grizzlies as Clearly University goes to Oakland on Wednesday.
The Grizzlies are coming off a 2-2 week that featured a series victory over Northern Kentucky. Going 2-1 against the Norse at home, Oakland took the first two conference games while falling in game three.
In game two, which Oakland won 10-0, Garrett Garman was dominant, tossing six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out eight to earn the win. Brandon Nigh finished the day 2-for-4 with four RBI, while Taylor Halloran added two hits and scored twice. Sam Griffith contributed two hits, an RBI, and scored twice, while John Lauinger also drove in two runs.
Taylor Tomlin leads the Grizzlies in batting average (.418) and is second in hits (23). Lauinger is the leader in hits (28) and is tied for the lead in walks (12). Brandon Nigh has compiled 22 hits with half of them doubles (11) while leading Oakland in RBI (17). Carter Hain leads the way in home runs (3).
On the mound, Daniel Duley leads the Grizzlies in ERA (2.70) in five appearances and one start. Hunter Pidek leads the way in innings pitched (31.2) while Grant Garman is the leader in strikeouts (26).

Akron is coming off a 0-4 week with losses to Pittsburgh and Bowling Green and comes into Tuesday with a 6-17 overall record.
Andrew Horvath compiled a .583 batting average the past week with seven hits, one double, four RBI and four runs on the week. Kyle McConachie, Caden Matlon, Evan Bottone and Max Bowman all supplied five hits last week.
In game one against Western Michigan, Jared Schaeffer tied his season-high for strikeouts with eight k's over seven innings. It was the second straight game that Schaeffer recorded eight strikeouts while striking out 23 over his last three appearances.
Horvath leads the Zips in batting average (.337) and is one of four players to hit above .300 this season. He also leads Akron in hits (29) and doubles (9). Max Bowman shares the lead in home runs (3) with Blake Bowen while leading the way in RBI (20) and walks (21). Jack Poist holds the lead for stolen bases (10).
On the mound, Brett Dietrich leads the way in ERA (2.57) in six appearances. Six different Zips have recorded a win while Schaeffer is the leader in innings pitched (31.2) and strikeouts (36).
