AKRON, Ohio -The Akron Zips got three hits from Max Bowman in a 9-2 loss to the Eastern Michigan Eagles Sunday.

In addition to his three hits, Bowman had a walk to lead the Zips. Ian Pennington furnished a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with a double and two walks. Evan Bottone also helped out for Akron, putting together one hit in five trips to the plate while adding a double and an RBI.

Jett Slepak (0-2) got the ball to start for Akron (5-10, 0-3) and took the loss. Johnny Anservitz was a bright spot for the Zips, coming out of the bullpen and throwing two shutout innings, allowing one hit, with no walks and three strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Zips got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning. Jack Poist came across to score the lone run of the inning for Akron and get them on the board.

The Zips lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the eighth trailing 8-1. Pennington came across to score the lone run of the inning for Akron, which brought the score to 8-2 in favor of the Eagles. The Zips were unable to get any closer, as Eastern Michigan added one run to their tally on the way to a 9-2 final.
