AKRON, Ohio - The Akron baseball team returns to Mid-American Conference action when it travels to Toledo to battle the Rockets starting on Friday, April 4.

SCOUTING REPORT
The Rockets come into the series with a 9-18 overall record, a 4-8 record in the MAC and a 2-1 record at home.
Outside of hosting Ohio for a conference series, every other game the Rockets have played has been a true road game.
Toledo is currently on a four-game losing skid, with the most recent defeat coming at Youngstown State on April 1. Falling 13-3 to the Penguins, Toledo scored their runs in the first, fifth and seventh while allowing six runs to come around in the fifth. Tre Mariano went 1-for-2 with an RBI while Josh Cote was able to drive in a pair of runs.
Caden Konczak leads Toledo in batting average (.280) and is second in hits (26) and leads the Rockets in home runs (6). Troy Sudbrook leads the way in hits (27), triples (2) and RBI (17). Luke Walton is the leader in doubles (7) while Luke Leto is the leader in stolen bases (6).
On the mound, Nathan Leininger has the most wins (3) in eight appearances and 17.2 innings of work. Braden Curry is the leader in ERA (2.11) through eight appearances, 21.1 innings of work and holds one save. Logan Jones leads the way in saves (4) while holding a 1-1 record in nine appearances and 20.2 innings of work. Ryan Kennedy is the leader in innings pitched (25.0) and is tied with Curry for the lead in strikeouts (26).

The Zips recently fell 6-4 to Dayton on the road on April 1. In the batter's box, the Zips were paced by Caden Matlon, who went 2-for-5 on the day with a double and two RBI. Blake Bowen put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Andrew Horvath also chipped in for Akron, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double and a walk.
Matlon currently leads the Zips in batting average (.348) and is one of four Zips to hit .300 or better. Max Bowman leads Akron in hits (36), walks (23) and is tied with Bowen for the lead in RBI (22). Horvath holds the lead for doubles (11) while Bowen is the leader in home runs (5). Jack Poist is the leader in stolen bases (10).
On the mound, Nathan Currah leads the staff in ERA (2.57) in six appearances and seven innings of work. Seven different Zips have recorded a win this season while Johnny Anservitz holds the lone save of the season. Jared Schaeffer leads the staff in innings pitched (38.2) and strikeouts (40).
