OXFORD, Ohio - The Zips conclude their series with the RedHawks with a 5-0 defeat on Sunday.
Derek Occhipinti led the Zips offense with a 2-for-4 day that featured a double. Will Heisler went 1-for-3 which included a double.
Landon Vandegrift (1-4) started and took the loss on the mound for Akron (16-34, 9-21). Jack Kelley was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going three shutout innings while allowing two hits, walking one and striking out three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Akron did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Zips went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the ninth, when Caden Matlon made it into scoring position with one out.
GAME NOTES
