AKRON, Ohio — The Akron women's soccer team will head to UMass on Sunday, October 11 for a 1 p.m. showdown.
The Zips (6-5-1) are coming off a 3-0 loss to Ball State back on October 4 at home. Prior to the match against the Cardinals, Akron had gone 2-0-1 in their last three matches — highlighted by 1-0 victories over Ohio and Toledo. They also tied Bowling Green, a team that made the MAC Tournament final last season. Rachel Wenzel leads the offense with five goals, while Addition Hall has two goals and two assists.
Their six wins this season is already the most they have had in a single season since 2019.
UMass comes in with a 9-1-2 record with no losses in MAC play, ranked second in the conference. They have tied each of their two matches (2-2 at Bowling Green and 0-0 vs. Toledo). Monica Curry leads the team in scoring with seven goals, while Leah Nisenfeld has made 52 saves in net.
Last season in their first-ever match between each other, UMass defeated the Zips, 1-0.
