AKRON, Ohio - The Akron baseball team gets set for a mid-week meeting with the Youngstown State Penguins on Tuesday, March 31, for a 2 p.m. start.

Floyd McKenna leads the way in appearances (11) and is tied with Taylor Bednar for saves (2). Elijah Griffith holds the top mark in innings pitched (36.2), sharing the lead with McKenna for strikeouts (22).
As a team, Akron is hitting .254 with 166 runs scored on 209 hits. The Zips have 142 RBI, 51 doubles, four triples and 17 home runs. The Zips are 66-of-77 on stolen bases this season. The Blue and Gold's pitching staff has allowed 198 runs, 165 earned, while striking out 175 and walking 154.Â

Youngstown State enters Tuesday's contest with a 3-22 overall record, losing its last seven games.
The Penguins recently were swept by Northern Kentucky, playing a pair of 10-inning games while losing all three games of the series by one run. In their last five games, Youngstown State has lost every contest by one run.
Alex Jang leads YSU in average (.288), hits (23) and is tied for second in doubles (4). Nathan Beckley holds the lead in doubles (5), triples (2) and walks (13), while Brady Shannon is the leader in home runs (6) and RBI (12). Kendal Spencer leads YSU in stolen bases (7).
On the mound, three Penguins have recorded a win while Braden Gebhardt leads the staff in ERA (1.23), innings pitched (44.0) and strikeouts (57). Luke Zmolik and Sloan Ulrich hold the top mark for appearances (9), while Ulrich has recorded one save.
