Phillips Hits Home Run in Loss to Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Kelton Phillips hit his first home run as a Zips as the Akron baseball team fell 6-2 to Bowling Green on Thursday.
Phillips finished the day 2-for-5 while Brody Chrisman furnished a 2-for-4 performance, while scoring once. Prince DeBoskie went 1-of-1 with an RBIÂ double.
Josiah Ross (2-4) started and took the loss on the mound for Akron (13-15, 5-8). Parker Munday was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 5-0, the Zips first put runs on the board in the sixth inning. Phillips put Akron on the board with a leadoff home run.
The Zips deficit expanded to 6-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the eighth inning. Akron pushed across a run on DeBoskie's two-out RBI double, which tightened the Falcons lead to 6-2. The Zips were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
