DeBoskie Racks Up Eight Hits in Double Header Against Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Prince DeBoskie racked up eight hits and six stolen bases in a pair of losses against the Bowling Green Falcons on Friday in a doubleheader.
GAME 1 | Bowling Green 9, Akron 8
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Prince DeBoskie collected five hits, but the Akron Zips fell to the Bowling Green Falcons 9-8 on Friday.
In addition to his five hits, DeBoskie had a double and an RBI to lead the Zips. Blake Bowen put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and two RBIs. Kelton Phillips also helped out for Akron, putting together two hits in five trips to the plate while adding a double and an RBI.
Brady Bowen (3-1) took the loss on the mound for Akron (13-16, 5-9) out of the pen. Bowen allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits while striking out three. Elijah Griffith got the start and went 5.1 innings, allowing seven runs on six hits, while striking out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Akron scored twice, with one run coming across on Blake Bowen's single.
The Falcons failed to push any runs across before the Zips offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. Akron picked up two runs when a single from Gabe Mathison brought home DeBoskie and Mitchel Szymczak, which brought the score to 4-0 in favor of the Zips.
Bowling Green narrowed Akron's lead to 4-3 before the Zips stretched the advantage to 6-3 in the fifth inning. The Zips recorded runs off a double from Blake Bowen and a single from DeBoskie.
Akron lost the lead they built in the fifth, but got back on the board in the eighth, trailing 8-6. The Zips picked up two runs in the frame, the big hit being an RBI double from Phillips, tying the score at 8-8. Bowling Green then scored one run over the remaining one inning to break the tie and grab the 9-8 win.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Prince DeBoskie went 3-for-5, while recording five stolen bases in a 9-6 defeat to the Bowling Green Falcons.
DeBoskie went 3-for-5 and was a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen bases. Brody Chrisman went 2-for-2 on the day with three walks and an RBI. Gio Melchione recorded a double and two RBI. Kelton Phillips also chipped in for Akron, putting together two hits in five trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
Taylor Bednar (1-2) took the loss on the mound for Akron (13-17, 5-10). Landon Vandegrift was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. DeBoskie came across to score the lone run of the inning for Akron and get them on the board.
The Zips lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the fourth, trailing 3-1. Phillips' run-scoring single highlighted an inning where Akron scored twice, which evened the score at 3-3.
Bowling Green busted up the tie and grabbed a 5-3 lead heading into the fifth, when Akron tied the game at five. The Zips pushed two runs across on a two-run double off the bat of Melchione that brought home Chrisman and Blake Bowen.
The Falcons busted up the tie and took the lead heading into the sixth inning, when Akron got back on the scoreboard. The Zips scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Chrisman, bringing the score to 7-6 in favor of Bowling Green. The Zips were unable to get any closer, as Bowling Green added two runs to their tally on the way to a 9-6 final.
