Cantrell records 5 RBIs in Akron's 13-5 victory over Kent State

KENT, Ohio - Katie Cantrell racked up five RBIs to help propel the Akron Zips past the Kent State Golden Flashes 13-5 on Tuesday.
Cantrell went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a walk in addition to her five RBIÂ for the Zips. Lily Sullivan put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-4 with a walk and three RBI. Meagan Lee also contributed for Akron, putting together three hits in four trips to the plate while adding a walk.
Madie Jamrog (6-5) got the win for Akron (18-19, 10-3). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up five runs, three earned, on 10 hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Akron's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Cantrell.
The Zips then held the Golden Flashes scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. which brought the score to 8-0 in favor of the Zips.
Akron kept Kent State scoreless before expanding their lead to 10-0 the following inning. The Zips pushed two runs across on a two-run double off the bat of Cantrell that scored Sophia Wygast and Sullivan.
The Golden Flashes gained ground, closing the gap to 10-3 until Akron added some insurance in the seventh. bringing the Akron advantage to 13-3. Kent State put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Zips still coasted to the 13-5 win.
