MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -The Akron Zips dropped the opening game of the series with Central Michigan 3-0 on Friday.Â
Elijah Griffith (3-3) got the ball to start for Akron (20-29, 10-18) and took the loss. The right-hander went six innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on eight hits, allowing two walks and striking out two. Landon Vandegrift and Parker Munday held the Chippewas in check, allowing no runs or hits over the final two innings while throwing a combined four strikeouts.Â
