Zips Finish 12th at Bettie Lou Evans Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Akron women's golf team climbed one spot on the leaderboard during Tuesday's final round to finish 12th at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational at the University Club of Kentucky.
The Zips entered the final 18 holes in 13th place before carding a 308 (+20) to move into 12th overall. Akron finished the two-day, 54-hole tournament with a 921 (+57) team total following rounds of 312 (+24), 301 (+13) and 308 (+20).
Kaitlin Kormuth paced the Zips with a strong finish, firing a team-best 2-under par 70 in Tuesday's final round. Kormuth recorded rounds of 77-77-70 to finish tied for 38th overall with a 224 (+8).
Sohniya Chandra Mohan followed with a 228 (+12) tournament total to finish tied for 48th. Mohan posted rounds of 78-73-77, highlighted by a 1-over 73 during Monday's second round.
Thitirat Silakham finished tied for 58th at 232 (+16), including an even-par 72 in the second round. Goethe Na Songkhla and Amara Montoya rounded out the Akron lineup.
The Zips return to action Oct. 5-6 at the Butler Fall Invitational, hosted by Butler in Indianapolis, Ind.
