Women's Soccer to Face Ohio on Pups on the Pitch Day

AKRON, Ohio — The Akron women's soccer team will face Ohio in a MAC matchup on Sunday, September 27 at 1 p.m. It also marks Pups on the Pitch Day at FirstEnergy Stadium, where the first 100 dogs in attendance will receive an Akron Zips dog bowl.
The Zips (4-4-1) are coming off a dramatic 1-1 tie with Bowling Green, a squad that appeared in the MAC title match last season. Down 1-0 with less than 10 minutes to go, reigning MAC Offensive Player of the Week Rachel Wenzel jumped in front of a goalie kick and the ball deflected off her leg and into the back of the net.
The Bobcats (3-5-0) were defeated by UMass, 2-0, in Athens back on September 20. In their MAC opener against Western Michigan the match before, Ohio lost, 3-2, after allowing all three scores in the second half. Jaimason Brooker is the Bobcats' leading scorer with three goals and also has a team-high seven points on the year. Ten different players have netted goals for Ohio this season.
Akron is 6-12-4 all-time against the Bobcats, with their last win coming in 2020. Last season's matchup resulted in a 1-1 tie in Athens.
